Schuylkill County Man Killed In Berks Crash: Pennsylvania State Police
A Pottsville man has died after a crash in Bethel Township on Tuesday, May 7, state police say. William J. Lecher, 56, was headed north on Route 183 when he lost control near the Appalachian Trail, troopers said in a release. Authorities said his Chevrolet Silverado entered the southbound lane before crossing onto the shoulder, striking a sign, and coming to rest on a grassy embankment. Teen Shot In Central PA, Police Say
A 16-year-old boy was shot in Harrisburg on Wednesday night, the police announced the following morning. The teen was found by officers responding to a call of shots fired in the Hall Manor apartment complex around 8 p.m. on May 8, the Bureau of Police detailed in the release. CASE: Lehigh County Couple, Infant Killed In 'Suspicious Fire'
State police are looking for tips in a "suspicious fire" that killed three people in Lynn Township more than 25 years ago. Linda Ann Howland, David Wayne Jones, and their 3-month-old daughter Leah Michelle Jones died when their home caught fire on April 26, 1998, according to PSP. The family lived in a converted barn on a property that Howland ran as a horse farm, authorities said. As a thunderstorm blew through Central Pennsylvania, a fire blew through part of a 3-story apartment complex that was still under construction, fire officials announced on Wednesday. The call to the blaze at the construction site on Russel Drive in Susquehanna Township came in at 5:25 a.m. on May 8, according to the Dauphin County Deparment of Emergency Management. While investigating a reported child sexual abuse case in Central Pennsylvania the suspect appears to have made a confession, according to a release by the New Holland police on May 7, 2024. The investigation into Madison Bair, 30 of New Holland's alleged abuse of a girl began after the local police received a tip from a Mandatory Reporter via Child Line in October 2023, as explained in the release. A woman is in the hospital following a shooting on Tuesday afternoon, the Harrisburg police announced shortly after the incident. Officers were called to report of "shots fired" in the area of Kittatinny and Buckthorn streets at 1:45 p.m. on May 7, according to the police release.
